Permanent Labyrinths

First Presbyterian Church, Livermore, California

by | Sep 27, 2018 | Labyrinths

2005 September: First Presbyterian Church Veriditas variation of the Chartres Labyrinth – Livermore, California https://www.fpcl.us

I was fortunate to work with Robert Ferre and, David and Kathy Ferre on this project. We all colored the pattern and sealed it before we left. Robert hired me in the same generous way he usually does.

BEFORE:

The church bought one of Robert’s canvas labyrinths which inspired them to install the permanent labyrinth in their courtyard.

We begin cutting (scoring) the lines into the concrete. The lines are only about 1/8 inch deep. This is enough to clearly define the paths of the Chartres Labyrinth.

After we score the lines, we color the lines with a polymer concrete.

AFTER:

You can see the finished labyrinth in their courtyard: https://www.google.com/maps/place/2020+5th+St,+Livermore,+CA+94550/@37.6784419,-121.7697011,45m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x808fe79ebd691777:0x9ba86d494c015905!8m2!3d37.6784053!4d-121.7695245
